Facebook and Social Media – The Next Marketing Opportunity
Marketing as an exercise is all about contacting the appropriate shoppers with the proper products, and the result sought is captivated patrons who are more than willing to spend their hard earned loot to boost your profit. For several years, marketers their target users
through various means and by trying to get their message across to spread responsiveness about their merchandise.
Traditional Means of Communication
Generally, marketing communications were conducted by means of books, broadcast and such traditional media through disruptive advertising, where advertisements appear in between the content of interest for the customer.
Traditional media does give a large reach to a marketer with its programming of mass appeal. However, the wastage is equally high, since a large portion of the crowd would belong to a different segment than the one that is to be targeted by the marketer.
Enter Social Media and the Internet
The transformation highlighted by the world wide web as a medium took place because of the fact that it really is highly personalized and provides more content on-demand than any other available medium. Social sites proliferated far and wide in their usage for a few simple reasons:
The power to create and distribute content is every bit as available to every operator, regardless of him/her being a customer or a marketer. In the earlier forms of media, that power rested with the editorial staff of the channel or the advertiser, but hardly ever with the user.
The medium is completely personalized, and a user can create or join groups and further create content based on what he/she likes.
Opinions are free and fair. This is one reason why social media is of utmost concern to marketers, since purchasing decisions are no more influenced as much by ad copy. The traditional word of mouth marketing approach has grown extremely well on social networks.
Facebook – At the Center of Social Media
With five hundred million (and growing) exclusive users throughout the world, Facebook is the main social networking site in terms of activity and subscriptions. What started as a garage initiative by Mark Zuckerberg has now become the greatest trend on the net.
A user interface that allows for quick communication and the ability to create fan pages and groups at the click of a mouse button are what make Facebook remarkably trendy. Another important reason for its immense popularity is the huge range of social applications that have been developed and made available within the Facebook environment.
These applications can allow users and friends to do joint activities like playing games that run endlessly, sharing photos, videos, and web links, and many more.
How does this help a marketer?
Generally, media plans were drawn to include TV channels, publications, or any other media that can grab maximum viewing and effectively reach a selected target audience. The science of segmentation and targeting has become only more accurate in the case of social media.
Facebook provides a wide variety of avenues to communicate with the audience, which opens up an entirely different world of possibilities to have a profitable dialogue with customers. Some of these methods used popularly by marketers are:
Advertising: The first opportunity, which is the most obvious one, is advertising on Facebook. The difference, however, is the fact that you can design your own commercial in a matter of minutes and also specify the details of your target group in terms of demographics and types of discussions where you want your advertisement to appear.
Fan Pages: Facebook allows every brand, as well as particular person users, to create fan pages for their favorite celebrities and their own homegrown businesses. Large brands have also created their official pages on Facebook that have a huge, immediate fan following around the world. The fan page has vast utility to convey first hand information about the brand and also to collect immediate and frank feedback from your customers.
Branded applications: One of the most effective ways to engage a user toward your brand is by building an application; this could be a game or a contest, with your branding coming across subtly through it.
What makes Facebook even more exciting is the way it allows you to target your communication sharply just to the customer segment you want to attract. It also provides analytics and page insights that give good feedback and measurement on the activity done.
The options provided by Facebook can be creatively explored and used judiciously for bringing about maximum benefits to any brand.
However, while doing all this, you need to be aware of the fact that customers have an equal say and have the ability to respond immediately to any of your actions with a thumbs up or a thumbs down. Availing the service of a social media consultant to work out a social media strategy may be required so that your efforts will not be in vain.

You’ve likely heard some of these sites and possibly you’ve taken a look at some of their home pages or even signed up for a free account. But tell me this:
Are you generating a ton of qualified leads using these sites yet?
If you’re not pulling in traffic using these sites, you’re certainly not alone. Plenty of marketers haven’t even touched the social networking scene yet. And many of those that have ventured out into this relatively new territory aren’t matching their strategy or their message to the medium.
You see, you can’t just post a profile on MySpace and talk TO your audience.
These are social networking sites, meaning you talk WITH your audience. In other words, it’s a two-way conversation. And if you try to make it into a static, one-way conversation, you’ll find very few people interested in what you have to say.
To that end, here’s what you need to do to start making the most out of social networking sites:
1) Join and Set Up Your Profile
Stay away from setting up a jumbled profile with lots of images, colors and fonts that make it hard to read.
If people have to struggle to read it, they won’t. And you’ll lose a potential prospect.
On the flip side, don’t make your profile into a “clinical white” corporate-type site. People don’t visit other people’s profiles to read about companies. If they want to look at a business page at all, it’s because they want to find solutions to their problems.
In other words, your profile isn’t really about you. It’s about your prospect.
2) Contribute Good Content
Social networking sites aren’t for blasting out one commercial message after another. And in fact, doing so can get you banned.
However, you can use these sites to establish yourself as an expert in your niche, as well as to attract qualified leads to your site. And to do that, you need to contribute good content on your social networking blog, on the forums and elsewhere on the site as appropriate.
Doing so starts the conversation with like-minded others – and networking is the key to using these sites successfully.
3) Start Now
Today is the time to get started. And that’s because social networking is not only hot today, it’s the future of the web. We’re seeing this evolution right now – and if you start using social
networking sites immediately, you’ll be rewarded handsomely in new customers, new leads, new sales … and plenty of money!
Submitting to Social Marker
Fill in the details of your article in the “Bookmark details” section:
Now you need to choose the social bookmarking sites that you want to bookmark your site to.
Just press the “Dofollow” button to choose only the sites that proide your article with do-follow links (a “no-follow” link is a link that is marked with the “no-follow” tag, which means that google and the other search engines don’t give value to that link. Many web 2.0 sites mark their links with the no-follow tag). Although I have seen where I actually get credited a link from NOFOLLOW sites)
Note: Your article title will be the anchor text of that link. The anchor text is very important to your ranking.
The search engines look at the anchor text of the links that come into a page to determine its rankings. For example: If you have a link with the anchor text “Blue widgets”, it will help your page to rank for the search term “blue widgets” whenever someone does a search for that term. BUT… Do NOT have all your links say the same thing. keep about 30% of your bookmarks with the exact same keyord that you want to rank for as the anchor text, and the remaining links with an anchor text that similiar to it.
For example, if you want your article to rank for the phrase: “how to make money online easily” 30% of your titles should be “how to make money online easily” while the other 70% of your titles should say stuff like: “making money online easily”, “how you can make money online the easy way” etc. This is very easy to do with Social Marker, as you will see for yourself when you do it.
The same goes for your other linking efforts. Never link too much to the same page with the same anchor text. The search engines will see right through that. You don’t want it to appear like you are “manufactoring” links.
Now it’s time to bookmark your article. After you press the submit button, you will be take throgh each one of the sites that you chose to bookmark your article with. If you do not have an account with them, you will have to create one.
Once you have begun the submitting process, an area will appear at the bottom of the page with all the details that you just filled in. You can drag and drop that information into the appropriate fields when you submit a bookmark.
When you are done with one site, continue to the next one by pressing the “Next” button.
You’re Done! Now you will have some backlinks going to your article giving it a little “push” in the search engines and helping it rank higher. Now it’s time to go to the next linking strategy, which is much more powerful than the one I just showed you (although it does take a bit more time.)
In the next training module I will show you how you can make an article “spin-ready”, so you can easily have unique content to post to content sharing sites with a link back to your main article. (if you don’t know what article “spinning” is, don’t worry, I show you everything you need to know about it in the next training module.)
How important is a list, your very own personalized list, when you are building an on-line business?
Think about this one. Are you more likely to open an email that has a sender’s email address and name that you identify or a sender’s email address and name that you do not?
If you subscribe to a newsletter and you are given an informative newsletter once a week or every few days, are you more or less likely to open an email from the sender of that newsletter than one from someone you don’t know?
That is for sure – and other people online behave much as you do.
So if you grow a list of your own, sending emails to subscribers who recognize your return email address as one that sends educational useful advice, will your emails be opened at a stronger rate than they would if you bought a “safelist” or rented someone else’s list?
I think the answer should be clear. Your own list wins every time.
Keep in mind, when you procure a list, it is most probably being mooted to numerous others.
So the recipient not only gets your email but 30 or 50 others, all from email addresses they do not trust.
You must grow your own list.
So how do you do it?
At the very least, you need a web site. It does not have to be anything elaborate, just a landing page for interested individuals, where you will put your opt-in script. There are plenty of zero cost ones out there that you can just fill in the blanks. I recommend this do it yourself website builder. It really is point and go.
You must have an autoresponder account. You will use the autoresponder account to supply messages that help you build a association with your potential prospects.
Your emails must be informative and useful in order to keep them getting read. If you give useful and informative material, people will look forward to your email as often as you send it. If you do not provide useful information, your emails will not get read.
You must have perseverance. You will not build a huge list over night. But as you grow your list, you will be putting together a business. A long-term business, with repeat buyers.
One note to the sensible: Be sure you use the “double opt-in” feature you will receive with your autoresponder. This ensures that anyone who opts in to your list will have to click through to a confirmation link before they receive any emails from you. This helps protect you from SPAM complaints.
A word of warning to those who really want to buy a “safelist” and simply email your offer to the email addresses on that list. Is it worth a one-time mailing to get your web site suspended for spam activity?
Don’t do it!
Build your own high-quality list and cultivate a strong, long-term relationship with those leads.

Today, we’re going to talk about Social bookmarking.
You’ve probably heard alot about it and maybe you’ve even tried it yourself a time or two.
You maybe have come to the same conclusion that alot of other people have come to — that it is a load of old tosh and not worth the hassle!.
And yet you keep hearing the gurus boast about how much traffic they get from these sites. They talk about getting hundreds or even thousands of visitors in an insane short amount of time.
They warn you that social bookmarking sites and other social media sites are the future – and if you don’t start using these sites now, you’ll be left behind.
Is that true?
To be blunt: Yes.
And that’s why I want you to know how to use social bookmarking sites.
These sites are easy to use, you get instant traffic and the traffic is targeted and warm to your messages.
Here’s how to do it:
1) Join the Top Social Bookmarking Sites
Run a search for “social bookmarking” sites in Google, and you’ll uncover plenty of sites. You’ll need to focus on two types of sites:
1) the main sites (listed below) that get the most traffic and
2) those sites that are tightly focused on your niche.
Here are some the best social bookmarking sites (that you should join ASAP):
2) Participate, Network, Contribute, Network
You can’t just join these sites, bookmark your own pages and expect a rush of traffic.
Think of it this way: If a stranger came up to you on the street and said “visit this site,” would you?
But you certainly wouldn’t feel compelled to do so.
Now what if your friend emails you and says, “check out this site.” Would you?
Probably! And that’s because you know this person and trust his judgement.
Likewise, that’s why social bookmarking sites are so powerful. Namely, bookmarked pages have a better chance of being seen by thousands of eager visitors IF some of the well respected members of the community rate them as good sites first.
That means you need to network and become friends with the influential members who are in your niche. And that means you must also become one of these respected members by first voting and commenting thoughtfully on other people’s content.
3) Submit “Buzz Worthy” Content
Once you’ve networked with influential members on these sites and built up your own reputation, it’s time to start submitting some of your own content.
But here’s the catch – you can’t trot out some dusty old content that can be found in a thousand other places online.
It needs to be fresh, engaging and “edgy”. In short, it needs to be worth sharing – something that people want to read about and pass on to others.
An affiliate marketer may have all the materials necessary for them to be able to cut the mustard in an online business such as affiliate marketing.
They may have the mandatory ambition, diligence and perseverance to be able to realize how the system works.
They may have all the tools necessary in keeping the business, including a really different and fascinating website which could earn them a boat load of cash if only the whole world could experience it. However, all these would prove useless if they do not know how to push traffic to their website. Their business would sink into oblivion together with all the sales, fortune and desires that they might have realized if they only knew how to do this specific chore.
Getting folks who matter to see your website is a demanding duty if he tries to take into consideration the fact that there are businesses everywhere waiting to pin him down.
The boundlessness of the WWW as well as the affiliate marketing world has given rise to the tough competition between affiliate marketers, each of whom has his own great product to offer.
With all the websites piling on top of each other, how’d just one be able to stand out from the mob? The seven best ways to coerce laser-targeted traffic to your own website would help those who are determined on sticking it out with this business wherever it is bound to take them.
Seven Steps To Heaven
The very first step in driving traffic to your website is by counting on search engines and what they can do for the affiliate marketer concerned. Because they’re celebrated for driving free targeted traffic, they mustn’t be dismissed by all means.
Having top search engine rankings is significant in generating popularity links, and the use of the right keywords is critical in achieving this goal. Once a website is on top of the list, it is easily reachable to anyone who wants to look at it for themselves.
The 2nd way in driving traffic to one’s website is by making contact with other webmasters for a possible link exchange relationship. Finding websites that are linked to your own website is the most important task. Once there, you should be able to establish contact by personalizing everything as much as possible. It is then possible to make reciprocal link exchanges between webmasters no matter what way the affiliate marketer prefers.
The 3rd way is through writing your own articles. This is an effective way in marketing a web site, because good content that is respected by followers will lead them to check out the writer’s very own website out of sheer interest.
The fourth approach is by using joint venture marketing. This is one of the most proficient ways of pushing a product or a service. Having a JV partner through ad swap or link exchange is advantageous to both parties as it allows them to reach a wide customer base in a short amount of time.
The fifth approach is by way of enrolling in affiliate programs. Having affiliate marketers to do the work means allowing them to bring heaps of traffic to a website. Multiplying sales would be realized as a result, and both the affiliate and the website owner will prosper from the arrangement.
The 6th approach is by having a number of subscribers that you can connect with every once in a while, because they are those which would prove to be precious investments for the marketer concerned. The use of autoresponders and personalized newsletters is one method of tracking them all, and holding on to them by letting them know about new products and services is an essential task that should be done by the affiliate marketer concerned.
The 7th way is by understanding your niche every bit. It is imperative for traffic to be focused to those who may possibly have a special interest in the theme or topic of your website. This way, a solid customer base is going to be developed. Once a potential customer shows an awareness in a particular website by paying it a visit, you must not waste time in trying to indicate to them that their effort is worth it.
Traffic producing approaches are crucial in trying to make your affiliate marketing career tiptoe forward. It is always helpful to plan your moves in any business that you might tackle. This is particularly so in affiliate marketing. If you know how to get individuals to see what you have to offer, then you are on the right track.
